Hearing and seeing Rob and the trio is like watching one of those Mentos and Coke memes on Youtube. You can count on an exciting explosion. By turns hilarious, masterful, and soulful, the trio surprised us over and over when we saw them at Club Passim. It seems they haven’t met a style music they don’t like and have been influenced by all of them: folk, Gypsy jazz, pop, bluegrass, rock, and array of sounds and rhythms from around the world. But it all comes together in masterful, beautifully synthesized songs and tunes marked with originality. Theirs is an upbeat, entertaining show that’s also full of heartfelt feeling. Rob’s personal religion – is that too strong? – is “seven hugs a day.” For more on that, see the video below.
Rob Flax, Slava Tolstoy (guitar), Max Ridley (bass) all have remarkable credits, credentials, and collaborations to their names. Go the website link below to learn more about that. But as you know by now, we aren’t (too) impressed by who they’ve worked with. They won us over in person and we think you should see and hear them, too.

About concert day
Our living room holds 35 seats. As we receive your RSVPs, we’ll hold a chair for you, count on your donation, and post the number of seats remaining on this page.
How should I make my suggested donation?
Cash is king! We recommend bringing folding money with you when you come. Think of your donation and any additional tip as a tax-free gift to the artists. If you can’t make it after all, consider making a donation (for example, by Venmo) even in your absence.
Where is the concert, exactly?
Carlisle, MA. And about one week before the date, I’ll send you a reminder note with the street address and some parking advice.
Will there be merch?
We hope so! We encourage artists to bring their recordings and any other cool stuff they’ve produced for sale. Get ’em signed? I bet you can.
Relax, hang, chat
Laurelyn bakes cookies. She used to bake them as her full time job, so these are not your mother’s cookies! BYOB and tip it responsibly. Come a little early, get a good seat, meet some new friends. And usually, the artists stay for informal chat afterwards.
