G Rockwell, Hilary Weitzner, Noah Harrington . May 4

/

These two are old friends and you can feel that when you hear them play together. G and Hilary went to high school together. She says that G helped convince her to study music in college. Since the two of them graduated in 2024, I keep seeing them playing places with a gaggle of equally talented friends. They make me wish I’d picked up a fiddle a long time ago and had banjo playing friends to hang out with.

You may know G Rockwell from one of the (many) bands in which he plays an anchor role. Check out High Horse, his newest progressive string band project. G won the Fresh Grass banjo competition in 2022. He has three albums under his name and has instrumental and vocal credits on other’s albums. His most recent solo release, Bouyancy, features his songwriting as well. Hilary is at ease improvising in old time, bluegrass, Scandinavian folk, and Celtic traditional style fiddling. And what a voice!

And this time around they’ll be joined by Noah Harrington (bass) of High Horse and now also of Rob Flax and the Boom Chick Trio, which you may have heard at our house.

The G Rockwell Band with Noah Harrington (bass), Micah Nichol (guitar), and Austic Scelzo (fiddle). Jacob Joliff guests on mandolin for Fish Scale.
Hilary sings with Dakota Smith on a Nickel Creek song performed by Cahaba Roots, a band to watch, by the way.

Hi! John and Laurelyn here.

We have a simple aim in mind: live a little more each day in such a way that when we die, we have few regrets. Not a life of more, but a life that is rich, deep, and connected to people, those we love and whoever we encounter.

Take a look at Laurelyn’s art and consider joining us for a house concert.
