All over India, the Mughal Empire constructed forts and palaces that still stand today filled with elaborate Jalis, or stone-carved windows and walls, like the image above taken in Jaipur India. These decorative stone windows provided air circulation in a time before glass windows were available. This particular window was the inspiration for the block shown below.
